The Way of The Tortoise

I just came back from a visit with my youngest granddaughter and had the enormous pleasure of witnessing her first real steps. Watching her running after only a few days on her feet brings to mind that old story of the tortoise and the hare. Have you ever heard of The way of the tortoise?

At one time or another in out lives we've all heard the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. I think I fist saw it when my kids were small and watching cartoons. We all rooted for the lowly turtle as he plodded along steady and slow. And the rabbit was so sure of himself. There was no way he could lose right? So sure in fact he had plenty of time to take a nap.

And that's when our slow and steady turtle won the race. Remember the surprise on the rabbit's face when he arrived at the finish line to find our slow and steady friend, the tortoise, waiting at the line. He had that look of "What took you so long?"

Well creating a successful online business is the greatest example of following the way of the tortoise. At first it may seem as if all this content writing and information we are giving away is getting us nowhere. Sure you will see lots of rabbits out there speeding along, sure they will win the race. And there are times when it will appear they have reached that finish line ahead of us slow turtles.

But what have they finished with? It is easy to see the ways in which they are napping and taking it easy. Get rich quick is really any illusion I think we have all come in contact with at one time or another.

But just like my little granddaughter who appeared to be slower than her peers, in the end when she finally sprouted her wings she is moving like a pro. Watching her as she would take her first tentative steps, fall and get up to try again. There were no tears just joyful smiles of glee as she took two more steps the next time. You could see her planning her next strategy well in advance of letting go of the couch.

Our businesses are the same in many aspects. Successful business owners put as much into planning as they do into creating pages. It may appear that nothing is happening for the longest time. But when you start to put those well laid plans into place you will be surprised at how successful you are. It actually appears to those around you that you found the secret to that GRQ we just talked about.

But you and I know the real key is in moving along in a steady pace. Follow the tortoise way to your success. You too will be surprised to find you made it there before those who have fallen for yet another get rich quick scheme.
